綺麗なトルコブルーの「SKY SQUARE」。マット調の釉薬です。
角の鉢は「四角の型で抜くだけでしょ？」と思われるかもしれませんが、ろくろ成形に比べてかかる時間は鬼レベル。型どりして数日間乾燥。おおまかな形を作った後、シャカシャカシャカシャカひたすら削ります。この削りが大変。９０℃ずつ回転させながら厚みを整えていきます。「この部分は厚めにしないと焼くときに割れやすくなる」「きちんと排水できるように底の部分は穴に向かって傾斜が必要」とか、手を使いながらも頭の中は思考の大渋滞。

シンプルな鉢の背景にある「３０分以上続く永遠の削り工程をやりきった作家の魂」を想像し、愉しんでいただけると嬉しいです。

Beautiful turquoise blue "SKY SQUARE". It is a matte glaze.
Polygonal pots are difficult to work with by hand. You may think "It is easier to pull it out with a mold, isn’t it?", but it takes much longer than potter's wheel molding. Being placed over the mold, dried for a couple of days, a rough shaped BONSAI pot goes through the "trimming" process which lasts for nearly 30 minutes. Lots of thoughts go around in the potter’s head: "Without making this part a little thicker, it will be easier to crack when firing", “This line makes the pot more beautiful’, etc.
